When I first heard about Power Plate, I was instantly psyched to know I was to try it. After hearing raves and Hollywood reviews about it, I definitely wanted to get a taste of how stars kept their bodies in shape. Celebrity A-listers who have tried, tested and purchased the machine include Madonna, Donatella Versace, Natalie Imbruglia, Danii Minogue, Clint Eastwood, George Clooney and Claudia Schiffer. I invited my fellow fashion blogger, Lissa Kahayon for the session and I got all the more excited to learn that it was to be with celebrity trainer and the one responsible for some of the country’s hottest bodies, Reema Chanco.
WHAT IS IT…REALLY?
Power Plate is a vibrating platform that uses a technology called “Acceleration Training” to transmit waves of energy throughout the body, making your muscles contract faster. This helps your body do more “work” in less time (as in a full-body workout in 15 minutes). Acceleration Training can increase your core strength, stability, coordination, power, speed, flexibility and mobility. It can also increase post-exercise regeneration — all on a single machine.
Step 1. Stretching.
Stretching on a Power Plate is invigorating. From the first few seconds of the stretch you can feel the intensity and your blood vessels getting pumped up for the exercise. The vibrations, more so, provide for a deeper stretch. It was the perfect way to jumpstart your session.
Step 2. Balancing.
Balancing is an important element in Power Plate. Without balance, you can’t really maintain stability and more so, perform the exercise well on the plate. Also, it is important especially if you want to stay on the plate the whole time.
Step 3. Resistance.
This is probably the most challenging and most severe part of the workout. It definitely puts the work in work-out. It will definitely challenge your core and compared to other exercises, additional pressure is put on you to maintain your movements and coordination by the vibrating machine.
Step 4. Flexibility.
Another one of the more challenging parts of the exercise is testing your flexibility and engaging your core- all through out. The grip handles and elastic strings that come built in with the machine aid you in this process. Also, an intense core workout is part of this step which included a major endurance test of doing the plank and coordinated movements on the plate.
Step 5. Massage.
The reward part of session was the massage and I say, trust me, it was the best! The Power Plate promises a full all out workout and that includes an important gift of a soothing massage to all the muscles you stretched and worked out. It’s the perfect end to an intense yet totally worth it work out. More so, it is good for people on the go cause all you need is 30 minutes off your time to tone and shape your body.
