Last week, Preview Magazine's Anna Canlas (who happens to be one of my good friends) and I were invited by Deal Dozen to attend an event at Thunderbird Resorts in Poro Point. We were lucky enough to mix business with pleasure. Our 2-night stay not only included a press event but also a significant amount of free time that allowed Anna and I to really enjoy what the resort had to offer. Take a peak into our little vacation through these photos :

After the long ride, arriving in the hotel was such a relief. Upon stepping out of the coaster, the place really catches your attention with its stark white interiors with blue accents - the Santorini inspiration was apparent. Anna and I were obsessed with their welcome drink. It was pineapple juice with pandan leaves and lemongrass. They served the juice in a sliced up pineapple and used the lemongrass as the drink's straw. It was perfection.  After dinner and settling into our rooms, Anna and I decided to check out the hotel bar which brought us to another Thunderbird Poro Point treasure - their mojitos!!! They make their mojitos with nicely balanced flavors in a very tall glass -- scrumptious with just the right amount of punch. (Look for Paggy. He was our Bartender)

The next day was our full day at Thunderbird wherein we explored the property. The expat managers of the property took us on a tour around the resort. For people who know us, it wouldn't come as a surprise to find out that our short tour became some sort of photo shoot. There were several memorable spots that we just had to photograph and photograph ourselves in. Our first favorite was the home of one of their members. It that was done in their signature 'Santorini' style which was so refreshing to the eyes and extremely photogenic! Another one would be the view deck and walk way to the beach where you see that the Grecian structures they built go perfectly with the natural formation of their property. They have a gorgeous beach front that's perfectly landscaped on its periphery with exotic tropical plants. They have a beautiful 9-hole golf course with a spectacular view that is soon to expand into a full 18 hole golf course. Something the people of Thunderbird are very excited for.

We spent the second half of our day in a town 10 minutes away from Poro Point where you will find a stretch of establishments dedicated to what has become their town sport - Surfing! It was a perfect way to end our day - we lounged around by the water and watched people ride the waves. Right when we were thinking of going home, Anna just couldn't help herself! She went in and road waves with everyone else. And I must say, she makes it look so easy! And when you see the Glasnost dress she wore to the evening event, you'll agree with me when I say - Anna was Kate Borsworth circa Blue Crush by day and Kate Borsworth fashion favorite by night.

Our last night at Thunderbird Poro Point was celebrated by their party to launch a new area in the resort: The Poro Point Condotels. It's a great investment. Along with owning a 'piece of paradise' as they like to call it, you also make money.  When not in use by the owner, the room is considered for rent in which the hotel management maintains and manages it for you. You should visit their website and contact them for more details because their business model for this new venture was structured to benefit both the buyer and the hotel. Anna and I enjoyed meeting the people behind Thunderbird Resorts and learning more about their offers. Plus, we got to have more of those mojitos! (Check out Anna's Glasnost dress!)

Such a fun trip! Great place, good food, and super friendly staff! Thanks again Deal Dozen. And thank you to everyone at Thunderbird Resorts! Congratulations on the new venture. I'm sure it's going to be a success.

xx
